I read John’s obituary with utter sadness and regret. Sadness because he was a gentleman in every way. Integrity, kindness, compassion, knowledge and friendliness were just some of his wonderful qualities. John was a class act to say the least! John handled my life insurance matters for my family since the early 1970’s until recent years. Regret because I had no idea he had moved to Johnson City and was in ill health. Maybe I could have visited or done something for him? My wife Kerry was a nurse to son John lll at the WVU Medical Center in the late 1960’s and for years John was appreciative. John and I had a lot in common: Political Science majors and Phi Kappa Psi brothers at WVU. John was 25 years my senior and a mentor and trailblazer at Mass Mutual. We always shared the "secret" Phi Psi hand shake at agency meetings and would laugh a ton. He was just a good man, and with his beautiful wife Betty, a class act.
