Obituary of Joffre Rolland
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I set you apart, I ordained you a prophet to the nations."
Jeremiah 1:5
Joffre Rolland was born on August 19, 1959. He was a seed sown from our Father God.
Joffre was born to a young mother Virginia (Harris) Prigmore, who chose life for her son. He was adopted out of Pittsburgh, PA into the home of the late Joffre Sr. and Constance Rolland of Bridgeport, WV. Joff had many gifts and talents that he used for the Lord. His very favorite was leading the youth, whether in church or in the community, he had a heart for the youth . He also loved music and played guitar with the praise band, Judah at Covenant Church in Fairmont, WV.
Our hearts are broken at his being called home but we rejoice in that he fulfilled his mission well and has entered into eternity with the King of Kings.
Joffre is the son of the late Joffre and Constance Rolland of Bridgeport, WV and Virginia and Rick Prigmore of Mount Dora, FL. He is also survived by his wife, Robin who he married April 11, 1981. Together they parented three beautiful children Brittany Rolland Snider and husband Jeremy of Century, WV and Sarah Rolland VanKirk and husband Joshua of Bridgeport, WV. Our middle of the three, Elisha David, though we never held in our arms, we have always carried in our hearts. He also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren, Cameron Singleton-VanKirk, Ezra Waybright, Connor VanKirk and Kayleah-Jane VanKirk all of Bridgeport. He is also survived by one sister, Barbara Rolland Hess and husband Todd of New Jersey; his beloved father-in-law Steve Ray Sr. of Bridgeport; a brother-in-law Steve Ray Jr. and Mary of South Carolina and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by a mother-in-law Sue Ray; a sister-in-law Terri Vallelonga and a sweet sleeping granddaughter Addison Grace.
Joff’s journey was completed on April 20, 2020 following a long courageous battle with cancer. Three years he battled but he was always a light and a witness everywhere he went. He stood strong on Joshua 1:9 “Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid, do not be discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” #JoffStrong.
