Dixie and I began kindergarten together in Mrs. Jones' class at the old Butcher School. As the years passed, we were scouts together in a troop led by her mother, with her dad an active helper. They hosted many gatherings at their place on the river as well as our weekly meetings at their home in the Farms. One of my greatest joys on the day of my ordination to ministry, April 25, 1971, at First Presbyterian in Fairmont, was seeing Dick Dollison walk in the church to attend the service. We lived at 811 Walnut Avenue so were close to many Dollisons. Great memories!
An update on my family...my father, Hummy, died in 1981. My mother, Nancy, died in 1988. My sister Nancy, died in 1998 at age 55 after a 10 year battle with Early Onset Alzheimers. So my family now is husband David, two daughters, one son-in-law and two grandsons...and lots of old friends, most special, my Fairmont ones.
I pray for comfort and peace and blessed memories of Dixie for all of you!
