Obituary of Herman H. Freeman
Herman H. Freeman, passed away at Pierpont Center, Fairmont WV on May 5, 2016 following a lengthy illness.
He was born March 8, 1928, the son of the late Auvil and Elva Kuhn Freeman. He was preceded in death by his wife Audrey Spriggs Freeman in 2014. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, his parents, his brother, Richard V. Freeman, his sisters, Agnes (Wayne) Williamson, and Betty (Jack) Potts, and a sister Joanne (Art) Seckman He is survived by his daughter Marilyn (Doug) Baker of Bluffton, SC, three grandchildren, Jennifer Witnauer of Buffalo NY, Melissa Baker (Ryan Kurczak) of Asheville, SC, and Michael Baker of Park City, Utah, two great grandchildren, Kathleen and Zachary Witnauer of Buffalo, NY, and many nieces and nephews.
Herman was a member of the Clarksburg Central Christian Church. Herman started out at Globe Brick in Newell, WV. He then entered public service in the WV State Park system and served as assistant superintendent at Tomlinson Run, New Manchester, WV and as superintendent at Watters Smith State Park in Lost Creek WV where he served until his retirement. Herman was a very personable fellow and never knew a stranger. He will be sorely missed by family and friends.
Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV on Monday from 10:00 AM – noon. The funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Monday, May 9, 2016 at noon with Reverend Del Parris presiding. The interment will follow in the Bridgeport Cemetery, Bridgeport, WV.
