I wanted to send my condolences to Doug's family. He sang at both of my parents funerals. His voice always brought tears to my eyes. He was a loved man by so many people. Doug's talent was amazing and he was so generous with his time and gifts. The Metz family appreciated him.

I had the honor of serving Doug and Bev on 2 occassions in my capacity as a Broker. I remember Doug's very kind and gentle demeanor, and the way He and Bev obviously adored each other. I remember him expressing pride & love for his children, and his love of music. He is a kind soul to be emulated, and my thoughts are with the Family.

Bev and family,
I’m so sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. I’m beside myself in disbelief that such a magnificent man and my neighbor is no longer with us.
When I moved across the street some 7 years ago Doug was the first person to welcome me to the neighborhood and that meant So much to me. The neighborhood will never be the same.
If you need anything please don’t hesitate to ask. God bless.

Dear Beverly and family,
My deepest condolences for your loss. Mr. Bunner was such an inspiration to us students. He led by example and showed us that hard work truly paid off. After many hours of practice on the back streets of Rivesville and on the football field (with you by his side helping us majorettes) we got better each day building confidence in ourselves and making our community proud. Mr. Bunner just had a way of making us want to be the best we could be. I also had him for music class and what a pleasure it was to hear him play the piano. I know he went on to touch so many lives after his early days at Rivesville High School and we the recipients were all the richer for it.
May god be with you now and in the days to come to fill your void with his love.
Love to you all,
Jo Ann Wilson Dewell

So very sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. He was a wonderful wonderful man. In my teaching career I have modeled many of his techniques. We shared work on the all state chorus. He will be sorely missed in the music world as I am sure he will be also in the life of his family. Prayers for support and healing.

I have many fond memories of Doug Bunner. As an undergraduate FSC student music teacher, I had the privilege of completing my student teaching internship under his direction at Fairmont Senior in 1988. He was nurturing, honest and inspiring and he gave me very useful tools to approach music in education that served me well in my career as an educator.
When I was hired to lead a high school choral program in central Florida, Doug was the first person I called for advice. I always understood why his students loved him and respected him because he was more than a teacher...his life lessons and example always steered his students in a positive direction. The world is a better place because Doug Bunner lived in it. His memory and legacy is a treasure for a lifetime!

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of "Doug". We were neighbors growing up and Doug was one of my closest friends while we both attended Rivesville High School. We had such fun times together playing in rock bands and the bands at our high school. I always appreciated having Doug as my close friend. He had a great sense of humor and carried himself in a very dignified manner. Doug loved playing his alto sax and the baby grand piano in his living room. His mother would always request that he play the song "Moon River" which Doug would play to perfection! Yes, Doug was an all around great person. I basically lost touch with Doug after graduating two years ahead of him and moving on to what back then was Fairmont State College. After graduating from this institution I relocated out of West Virginia. Doug and I never had any further contact until 1990 when my father passed away and he came to my mother's home in Rivesville, where I was staying for the funeral. He expressed his condolences for my loss. Doug was the only person to take the time to visit me during my time of grief. This says everything about the caring nature and thoughtfulness of this extraordinary person whose memory I will always hold near and dear to my heart. I know Doug has already filled Heaven with his numerous musical and vocal talent and will for all of eternity.

I had the honor of being one of Mr. Bunner’s Students and Madrigal’s from 1989 to 1993. Mr. Bunner cultivated a lifelong love of music and the fine arts in me and all of his students. He was one of the finest human beings I have ever known. Outside of my family, he has been the biggest influence in my life. He lived doing what he most loved in the world and spread so much joy through music. He created an environment at FSHS where classical music was cool. He transformed West Side High School in the middle of rural West Virginia into a mini performing arts school that would rival the finest schools in the country. I am so grateful for the many blessings I have received as a result of knowing him. My deepest condolences to Bev, Bridgett and Brent. I know that you all will miss him so much but please know that his life is a legacy and his memory will be in all of our hearts forever. With love and light, Beth

I'm honored to have had Doug as my teacher for Madrigals, and knowing his wife and children. In the early 90's were forging new grounds: making time period outfits, hosting medieval dinners, and traveling to music competitions each year. I enjoyed every moment we shared. Years later he and my mother both enjoyed music at Gateway UM church.
A very special man who will be greatly missed.

Bev, it doesn't seem all that many years ago our parents were visiting each other and we kids played together. A couple years later Doug, Keith and I had so much fun at 12th St. Pool almost daily. Those memories are still vivid. Doug was always so talented. He spread his humor, charm, and knowledge over a vast arena to so many, many people, all of whom will greatly miss him. My heart breaks for each of you with your loss. My deepest condolences to each of you all.

I had the pleasure of meeting Doug 4 years ago. We sang in a community concert together. I had heard such wonderful things about him. He invited me to sing with Vocal Tapestry.
I was thrilled. I had always wanted to be apart of this wonderful group. As I got to know him, it was so obvious why he was so loved and highly spoken of. I had and continue to have the greatest respect and admiration for him. He has touched so many lives and as a result has left this world a much better place. He will be sorely missed.
I pray that God will bring you comfort and peace at this sad time.

To the Bunner Family: I was a student of Mr. Bunner's back at Rivesville High School. Mr. Bunner was such a kind, thoughtful, loving man, who to this day has inspired me for a love of music. My prayer is for the Holy Spirit to comfort your hearts during these days and weeks to come. I'm sure Mr. Bunner's voice, as angelic as it here on earth, is even more angelic today in that heavenly choir.

I have to admit I'm still totally shocked about this because I just saw Brent at WAL-MART this past Saturday asking about ALL the Bunners! Mr. B! I always looked forward to 7th period Men's ' Chorus. That class was NEVER dull because you made it fun when you wanted too and yet serious when needed be. Loved talking to you about the latest movies to see and what not to see. I knew you were proud of me and my volunteering days of what used to be Fairmont General just simply because a lot of teens wouldn't give up their summer and weekends to do it. . I will never forget Toronto/Niagara Falls in '93. Right now there is a choir of angels singing for you. Brent, Bridgett, MRS B So sorry for you guys! Take great care of yourselves.
