Obituary of Peter Andrew Hayes

Peter Andrew Hayes, 54, of Fairmont, West Virginia passed from this life on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV.  He was born on October 19, 1963, a son of Faith Darlene Wallace Sigley and the late Ronald William Hayes Sr. He is survived by his loving wife, Carrie Anne Monell Hayes.

In addition to his wife and mother, Pete is survived by three brothers, Ronald Hayes Jr. and his companion Joni Curry of Monongah, Mark Hayes and his wife Arlene of Fairmont and Luke Hayes and his wife Kathleen of Fairmont; a sister, Miracle Harris of Fairmont; his in-laws, Phil and Ruth Monell of Fairmont; a brother-in-law, Philip Monell and his wife Heather of Fairmont; as well as many many special nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

In addition to his father, Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Vincent.

Pete owned and operated Hayes Pre-owned Auto Sales in Fairmont and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a 1981 graduate of East Fairmont High School, then served in the U.S. National Guard from 1981-1987, before graduating from Fairmont State College in 1987.

Pete loved life and always put his family first. He loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own children and attended many of their activities over the years.  He loved to travel and never met a stranger. He was an avid sports fan, a big New York Yankees follower and enjoyed golfing with friends at White Day Golf Course. He had quite a unique golf swing and was admired by many. Pete will always be remembered and loved for the special person that he was in life.

The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Sunday, January 28, 2018, from 12 noon until 8 p.m. A vigil service will take place at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday, January 29, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 329 Maryland Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554, at 10 a.m. with Father Jojan Joseph, CST as celebrant.
