Obituary of Annabel Lee Luebbe

     Mrs. Annabel Lee Luebbe, 91 years of age of Bridgeport, WV passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 from Bridgeport Healthcare Center, which is on the same property that was Annabel’s childhood farm.  She was born January 28, 1926 in Bridgeport, WV, the daughter of the late John Benjamin and Laura Thompson Stout.  She was preceded in death by her husband Robert F. Luebbe in 1959.

     Mrs. Luebbe is survived by a son Robert Luebbe, Jr. and his wife Amy of Bridgeport, WV; a daughter Barbara Cherry of Tallahassee, FL and four grandchildren Annabel , Sarah, Jake and Toby Cherry.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers Jack and Bill Stout.

     She was a 1943 graduate of Bridgeport High School and graduated from West Virginia Business College in 1945.  She retired from the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg as a ward clerk for the intensive care unit. 

     Mrs. Luebbe was a faithful member of Bridgeport United Methodist Church.  She had been for many years a Sunday school teacher for the first grade class and was a past president of the United Methodist Women.  She had been active in many organizations including Rachel Chapter #47 Order of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron from 1969-1970.  In 1977, she was presented a Performance Award from her work.  In 1989, she was recognized for her design from Bi-County Nutrition Program and in 1999 Mrs. Luebbe was the recipient of the Michael L. Benedum Fellow Award and presented a Certificate of Recognition for Community Service from Modern Woodmen of America.   

     The family would like donations to be made in their mother’s memory to the Bridgeport United Methodist Church Permanent Fund, 251 Worthington Drive, Bridgeport, WV.

     Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV on Tuesday from 2:00 PM -4:00 PM and 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.  The funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Dr. Ken A. Ramsey presiding.  The interment will follow in the Bridgeport Cemetery, Bridgeport, WV.
