Obituary of Fred Rex Fluharty

Fred Rex Fluharty, 91, of Marietta, OH, formerly of Fairmont, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025 at the Pines at Glenwood Assisted Living Facility. He was born June 5, 1933 in Farmington, WV a son of the late Lonnie Oscar and Emma Lou Wright Fluharty. He was preceded in death in 2021 by his loving wife of 41 years, Mavis M. Fluharty. Fred is survived by his children, William Berl and Donna McCoy of Fairmont, Darlene and Dr. J.B. Wallace of Dublin, OH, Arlene and Harry Summers of Caldwell, OH, and Rebecca McCoy of Lancaster, OH. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his sister Virginia Kisner of Fairmont, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter Bonnie Knoll, his son Jeffrey L Fluharty, and his siblings: Betty Steele, Lonnie Fluharty, Rose Haught, and Mildred Cooper. Fred was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and was a Veteran with the United States Army where he served as a Corporal and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the White Hall Church of Christ and was a former member of Oakwood Road Church of Christ in Fairmont. Fred retired in 1994 as a truck driver for A-2 Petroleum Products in Bridgeport with over 15 years of service, he previously worked with Owens Illinois in Fairmont as a truck driver for over nine years. Fred enjoyed working with and figuring out electronics, he could repair anything, and kept everything he owned in mint condition. He was an organized hoarder and also enjoyed riding his motor scooter. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV. Friends and family may visit the funeral home on Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 10AM until 1PM. The funeral will be held at 1PM with Evangelist Harry Summers officiating.
