Obituary of Lorena Sue Boyce
Lorena Sue Boyce, 78, of Fairmont, WV, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born February 2, 1946 in Fairmont, WV a daughter of the late Willard E. and Lorena E. Rowand Boyce.
Sue was a 1964 graduate of East Fairmont High School, as well as a graduate of Fairmont State College. She was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairmont where she served as a Eucharist Minister. Sue was a former principal and teacher with Fairmont Catholic School in Fairmont. She was also an independent A.M.T.A. Massage Therapist and served on the West Virginia Regulatory Board. Sue enjoyed gardening in her back yard and was an excellent cook. Sue was also a Godmother to Stacey (Rowan) Crookshanks.
Sue is survived by her sister Connie Rutherford of Fairmont, several nieces and nephews, including: Melanie Beth (Gregory) Williams of Virginia Beach, VA, Shawna Jean (James) Mullis of Fairmont, WV, Richard (Julie) Rutherford, Mark Rutherford, Brian Todd Rutherford, Belinda Hager, Brian Emmel, Renea Martinez, Cheryl McGovern, several great-nieces and great-nephews, including: Michael Pool, Jeanette Pool and Nathaniel Pool as well as several other great-great nieces and great-great nephews to include William Rundle.
In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her brother Willard Kevin Boyce, her sister Mary Gay Emmel and her nephew Steven Emmel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marion County Humane Society, 2731 Locust Ave, Fairmont, WV 26554.
The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. In accordance with her wishes, cremation services will take place. The Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church, 329 Maryland Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554 on Monday, February 10th, 2025 at 10am with Father Kishore Varaparla, H.G.N. as celebrant and Sister Stella Cronauer, C.S.J. assisting.
