Obituary of Richard "Rick" Allen Ravenscroft

Richard “Rick” Allen Ravenscroft, 71, of Grant Town passed away on January 1, 2023, at his home. He was born in Fairmont, on April 3, 1951, the son of the late Richard Paul Ravenscroft and Thelma Imogene Ray Ravenscroft. Rick was a Christian by faith and a graduate of Fairview High School. He had worked with the WVU Creative Arts Center in Morgantown and Bell’s Market in Grant Town, but his life pursuit was his career as a musician. Rick was a drummer, a vocalist, as well as a songwriter for most of his life. He performed on several albums over the years. Following high school, he traveled on the road playing with multiple bands, he spent many years in Florida working the music scene, and returned to West Virginia and spent the last 30 years playing locally. Rick is survived by his cousin, Cheryl Bauman of Florida as well as countless friends and neighbors. In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his sister, Jeannie Robinson. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
