Obituary of Carl Leon Kinney
Carl Leon Kinney, 89 years of age passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Harmony at White Oaks in Bridgeport, WV. He was born April 3, 1933, in Grafton, son of the late Carl Robinson and Sarah Kinney.
Carl is survived by his sons, Michael Lee Kinney and his wife Dr. Lillianne Kinney of Mechanicsville, VA and Jonathan Allen Kinney and his wife Patricia of Bridgeport, WV; grandchildren, Dr. Olivia Kinney, Dr. Eric Kinney and his wife Dr. Alexandra Kinney, and Sarah Crowley, RN and her husband Chad Crowley; step-grandchildren, Natan Cohen and his wife Tammy and Katrielle Cohen; four step-great-grandchildren; brother, James Robinson and his wife Claire; and sisters, Julia Rogers and her husband Lewis Ford Rogers and Kate Summers.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Frances Joan Kinney and a daughter-in-law, Martha Kaepplein.
Carl was a 1951 graduate of Doddridge High School and a 1955 graduate of Salem College. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from CNG Transmission Corp. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with Darrell Eddy and Craig Johnston at their cabin. Carl enjoyed gardening and woodworking and was a member of United Methodist Temple Church of Clarksburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Carl’s memory to WVU Medicine Hospice, 2673 Davisson Run Road, Clarksburg, WV 26301 or Alzheimer’s Disease Research, WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, 33 Medical Center Drive, Morgantown, WV 26505.
The family would like to acknowledge the care and loving concern given to Carl by Dr. James Malone and his staff as well as to the staff of Harmony at White Oaks and his home caregivers, including Tiffany, Delores, Sonia, Darlene, and Gwen.
The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 East Main St., Bridgeport, WV 26330, on Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 12 noon with Reverend Dr. C. Michael Hopkins officiating.
