Craig, how in the world did we get here? We did so much together, especially work. Were we ever NOT working together? Lifting weights, dropping weights, moving weights. Loading stuff, unloading stuff. Moving rocks, dumping rocks. Demolishing things, rebuilding things. It never seemed like "work", though. To me, and I'm sure to you as well, it was just two guys hanging out together... it just happened we were being productive at the same time. Maybe we made most of it up as an excuse to tell the girls so we could hang out without fear of judgement. Hmmm....
I knew I could always count on you to help me with anything. You were always just a phone call away. I know I'm going to need your help again and honestly don't know what I'll do when that time comes. The hole you have left in our lives makes the world simply feel like an alternate reality right now. We had such big plans for all of us to spend even more time together, now that yours and Mom's lives had gotten a lot easier. Losing you now is honestly the biggest injustice I've witnessed in my life. It has displaced any last hope for fairness and justice I had in this messed up world. You and Mom should have had a ton of retirement years ahead of you, to finally do things like travel together. My kids should have had another grandpa around to get ice cream with, play in the yard, etc.
In time I know we will heal. Things will get better, as they always do, but I know the pain will never completely go away, as it never does. Know that you will never be forgotten. To my young kids, you will never just be another face in a picture. They will always know they had a "Grandpa C" that loved them and wanted what was best for them. I simply wish you had more time here to show them that for yourself and to give them more of their own memories with you.

Craig retired just before I did by a couple months. He was in effect the last boss I had. He required what was needed. Fair in his critiques. And always there to listen when you needed to blow off a little steam. He was one of the good ones. My heartfelt condolences to his wife and family. He was a good soul.

To the Morris Family,
Craig aka Merc was one of the kindest, most knowledgeable, dedicated and professional Senior NCOs I've had the pleasure of knowing and working with. I always appreciated our conversations and working through some of the day-to-day Munitions and Weapons challenges we faced. Craig was always "Mission Focused", which is one of the many things I respected. His even tempered demeanor and leadership qualities made a profound difference in the Weapons Community.
I sincerely believe that Merc enjoyed every day of his life with his family. I think one of the best tributes to a person is the impact and difference they make. Merc has truly made an impact and difference in all our lives. God Bless you Craig. God Bless your family and thanks for making us all better people.
V/r,
Scott C. Pearsall

I worked with Craig nearly his entire career at the 103rd. My deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers to y’all. He was a cool, calm cat and will be remembered and missed. God speed Merc. May we meet again.
