Obituary of John Martin Thompson
John Martin Thompson, 62, of Fairmont passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at his residence. He was born December 31, 1958 in Fairmont, WV, a son of the late Clarence L. Thompson Sr., and Patricia A. McCaulley Thompson.
Mr. Thompson attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Fairmont and was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School. He retired from the Pepsico Company in Fairmont where he served for over 21 years as a supervisor and pre-sell representative. John also worked with the Marion County Police Reserves. The family would like to thank Ralph LeMasters, Jimmy Love, and Brad Merrifield for their kindness and support. He enjoyed his volunteer work which included Meals on Wheels, and working with the Union Mission during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
Survivors include his son, Timothy W. and Alice Thompson of Carolina, WV, his brothers, Clarence “Tommy” and Valarie Thompson, Jr. of Fairmont, and James Allen and Charlene Thompson of Fairmont, his sisters, Kathyrn “Kathy” Thompson, Kimberly ”Kay” and Dan Martin all of Fairmont, as well as many nieces and nephews, including Larry and Dorothy Hibbs, T.J. Thompson who he thought of as a son, “Peanut” and Freddie Rosser, “Meat” Fortney, Shaun Wine, Chris Thompson, Erica Fortney, Josh Thompson, and Patrick Thompson, and a great niece Hannah Rosser.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John Wesley Thompson.
