Mary had a life well lived and asked her family not to grieve but to be happy for her. Her family and friends knew her as a person with a kind heart, a gentle soul and one that possessed a strength and tenacity throughout her life. She imparted strong family values and instilled a sense of service to God, family, community and country. This encouraged all three of her sons to serve in the US Military. She loved to walk, garden, arrange flowers and cheer on the WVU Mountaineers. She was a wonderful cook, everyone loved her fried rice, as well as a housekeeper and seamstress. She once made a prom gown with a matching sling trimmed in lace for her daughter whose arm was in a cast. She was a long-time member of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church and enjoyed receiving their cards and crafts when she was no longer able to attend. She was thankful and blessed to have had wonderful, kind and caring neighbors over the years. To minimize the size of the gathering, the family will be conducting a private service on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Ford Funeral Home in Bridgeport. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations to Bridgeport United Methodist Church, 251 Worthington Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330.
