Obituary of Betty Jane Earle McFee

Betty Jane Earle McFee of Pleasant Valley, passed away peacefully, at the age of 96, on December 6, 2020 (9 days before her 97th birthday) at Pierpont Center. She was born in Eldora on December 15, 1923, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Mary Ellen Tonkery. Betty McFee is survived by a daughter and two sons, Betty Markovich (Mitch) resides in Watson, Roger Earle (Erin Sullivan companion) residing in Charleston, WV, and Richard Earle (Leah) residing in Pleasant Valley. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Scott Garlow (Lisa), Janet Glaspell (Rick), Brad Garlow (Misty), Ranee Way (Jeff), Derrick Earle (Alexis), Ryan Earle, and Jacob Earle, seven great-grandchildren, Sally Dotson (Philip), Stephen Garlow, Joshua Ramsey (Brenna), Samantha Starcher (Matt), Hunter Davis, Emily Garlow, Gabrielle Garlow, and Adalynn Earle, five great-great-grandchildren, Lyliana Dotson, Alicyn Ramsey, Kinsley Ramsey, London Ramsey, and Hendrix Starcher. She graduated from Fairmont Senior High School. When she was 16, she obeyed the gospel at the Benton’s Ferry Church of Christ. She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She also had many nieces and nephews. She was formerly employed by McCoy’s 5 & 10 and Westinghouse. Her interests were taking trips with the Senior Citizen’s Center, flower gardening, country classical music and gospel songs. She loved to play bingo and dominoes. She lived independently until the age of 93. She enjoyed the fellowship at White Hall Church of Christ, driving to church on Sunday mornings, exchanging birthday cards, and remembering anniversaries. Telephone and television were entertaining to her. She enjoyed mail ordering and was known as the queen of returns. She always attended the Tonkery Family Reunions. Quarantine from March to the present was hard for her, as it has been for everyone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Francis A. Earle in 1978; and her second husband, Howard McFee in 2001; her brothers, Robert Tonkery, Paul Tonkery, and Thomas Tonkery; three sisters, Mable Vangilder, Eleanor Dodd, and infant sister Virginia Tonkery. Betty was the last surviving member of her family. Betty’s family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of the Wishing Well Assisted Living, Pierpont Center, and WV Caring for the care and compassion she received. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the White Hall Church of Christ, 3549 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at 1:00 P.M. with Evangelist Kevin Lough officiating.
