On behalf of my mother, Gwendolyn Nickerson, who passed away in October of 2018, and my family, I wish to express sincere condolences to the family of a very special person. Jack and Jean were so kind to my mother when she made the very difficult move from her home in Virginia, where she had lived her entire life, to Maplewood in Bridgeport. Jack was so very kind to mom, and was always a positive force, whether he was making sure that she was included in conversations at meals, or talking college sports or just doing his best at keeping her spirits up. He and Jean were smart and interesting friends to have, and made great company for my mom who was a retired college teacher. It was a sad day for my mom when the two of them moved out of Maplewood. Fortunately, by that time and with their help, she had effectively made the transition to her new home. Personally, I will always remember my many conversations with Jack during the "happy hours" at Maplewood. He was always the life of the party but never the center of attention. His kindness and warmth were infectious. A true gentleman and a wonderful human being.
Blessings,
Gary Nickerson
