Obituary of Janice Gail Hamrick Fisher

Janice Gail Hamrick Fisher, 85, of Fairmont passed away on Monday, October 26, 2020, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She was born in Fairmont on November 14, 1934, a daughter of the late Homer and Sophia Hamrick. Janice is survived by a daughter, Tracie Volek and her husband Richard; grandchildren, Desiree and Nicole; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh and Brian; siblings, Dennis Hamrick and Beatrice Childs; and a son-in-law, Schuyler Humphrey. In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Fisher; daughters, Connie Humphrey and Robin Fisher; grandson, Chance; and siblings, Vilis Hamrick, Gladys Abbott, Avis Serean, Alice Vincent, Arvis Hamrick, Urvis Hamrick, Mavis Comegys, and twin sister Phyllis Edgell. Janice was a graduate of East Fairmont High School. She worked for C & P Telephone Company and for the Marion County Health Department. She enjoyed reading and puzzles. Janice loved her grandchildren and animals. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Janice’s memory to the Marion County Humane Society, PO Box 905, Fairmont, WV 26555. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Saturday, October 31, 2020, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 2 p.m. Janice will be cremated following the funeral service and a committal service will be held at a later date at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
