Obituary of David Neil Geigley
David Neil Geigley, age 87, passed away on October 17, 2020. He was born on June 18, 1933 in Hastings, West Virginia, where he lived his formative years with his parents, Dolly Naomi and John Richard Geigley, and his two sisters, Doris Jean and Mary Jane. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1953 and, following his service, he attended West Virginia Wesleyan College and attained his degree in 1959. He went on to teach school in Ohio before moving to Baltimore, where he worked for Westinghouse as a Senior Logistics Engineer for 33 years until his retirement in 1994. David moved to Bethesda, Maryland in 1989 and resided there for the remainder of his life. He was an avid reader, writer, artist, and golfer. He enjoyed his family, visiting museums, traveling, having deep conversations on all subjects, and had a great empathy for the plight of the less fortunate. He is survived by his loving partner, Barbara Marsden, his three daughters (from previous marriage to Evelyn Talkington Beckwith) and their spouses, Catherine and Joel Thornton, Jennifer and Eric Beyer, and Marcella and Brendan Brown, his stepdaughter Whitney Marsden, his sister Jane Engel, ten grandchildren and spouses, and four great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main St., Bridgeport, West Virginia 26330, on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, to be followed by interment at the Bridgeport Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, tribute donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in David’s name are greatly appreciated.
