Obituary of Peggy Sue Rowe Burnsworth

Peggy Sue “Rowe” Burnsworth, 83, of Bridgeport, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at her residence surrounded by family and friends. She was born November 11, 1938 in Pharaohs’ Run, WV a daughter of the late Paul and Cora Rowe. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Douglas R. Burnsworth, who died on February 26, 2016. Peggy was homemaker in her own home, and had previously worked at Jones Department Store in Fairmont before marrying her husband on December 31, 1978. She and her husband traveled extensively with Doug’s working career and lived in many locals throughout their lives, including Turkey, Montana, and Northern P.A. She enjoyed all WVU sports, but especially football and basketball. Peggy was very active with the American Legion Post #68 in Bridgeport and enjoyed spending time with the friends she made through the Legion. She loved her regular shopping trips, crocheting, and square dancing. Peggy truly loved her good friends who stayed by her side throughout her life, Becky Ware, Leslie Liller Banes, and Kathy Jackson. Her family would like to thank WV Medicine Hospice and Dana for the excellent care given to Peggy, as well as to Mary Stewart and Kitty Morrison who watched over her every need. She is survived by her mother-in-law, Irene Burnsworth, and her brothers-in-law, Larry and Tina Burnsworth, Joe Burnsworth and his companion Bill Walters, and Allen and Georgia Burnsworth, as well as many nieces and nephews, her sister-in-law Helen Burnsworth, and her special friends, Frank Sowers, Homer and Judy Haught, and Gerald and Helen Goodwin. The family has entrusted care and arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV. We appreciate in the unknown time with the COVID-19 pandemic that attending a visitation may not be in your best interest. Should you be able to celebrate her life, friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 from 3PM until 7PM. A graveside committal service will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 10AM with Reverend Bill Toothman officiating at Grandview Memorial Gardens, 93 Grandview Cemetery Road, Fairmont, WV 26554.
