Dear Cara: We were saddened to learn that your mother has passed away from us. Suzanne truly advanced the arts, and their meaning in all of our lives, in so many ways. Her leadership in education and the arts was profound and it has impacted so very many generations of students. Suzanne Snyder was a wonderful teacher, one of the best, when I was a student in the 60s at Fairmont State. She helped me believe in myself, especially in her debate class. Not only was she a great teacher, but she could direct a play with the best of them. I remember the joy we all shared when her baby daughter was born. My condolences to her family and many friends. I'll never forget Mrs. Snyder.

Cara and the Thralls family are in my thoughts and prayers. Suzy was a special gift in my life. We walked to EFHS each morning for 4 yrs. On that walk we shared each others problems and dreams. Later in life we talked thru marriage and children. We walked to games at East-West stadium. After she retired we met more often. Cara ,you and Marcus have been her light in life. Though I did no know Mrs. Snyder well I was familiar with her work at FSC. I am a private voice instructor and my daughter and many of my students benefitted from her work with ArtSmart and GSA. Our daughter Kristin Krall chose a career in the arts as a result of these influential experiences.

I was privileged to work as Resident Director for two years with the Governor's School for the Arts under Dr. Snyder's direction. I wasn't going to do it the second year, due to the fact that my wedding was scheduled for the last day of the school. She convinced me to do it anyway, and let me off a couple days early to complete preparations. I cherish the memories of GSA and working with Dr. Snyder, and I know how much positive influence the school had on every student that attended.

I remember Dr. Snyder from my days at FSC back in the 80's. Along with Dr. Overking, Dr, Swanson, BJ Sherman, Ms. Lough, Mrs. Veasey, and Mr. Dan Weber they kept all of us kids straight and steered us in the right direction. I am not sure but I believe her Mother was my Librarian at East Park School on Fairfax Street back in the early 70's. Roger Carr FSC Class of 1985.
