Obituary of Barbara Grace Bradley

Barbara Grace Bradley, 82, of Rivesville, passed away on July 14, 2020 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. She was born in the family home, in the Hites Coal Camp, Marion County, on October 16, 1937 to the late Charles B. and Nancy A. Higginbotham Watkins. On February 9, 2004, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Zane Bradley. Barbara was a member of the Rivesville United Methodist Church in Rivesville. She was a homemaker and, a devoted mother and wife. She spent her early married life being stationed with the United States military and moving almost annually to another posting whether it be stateside or internationally. Once they settled stateside, she worked for over 30 years with Sears Department Store from which she retired, and later worked with Chicks Bargain Center in Fairmont. Barbara was a member for over 45 years with the Ladies Auxillary of the V.F.W. Post #7048 where she had served as a past president. She enjoyed traveling both within the United States and abroad. Always needing to keep her hands busy, she had crocheted many afghans over the years and had gifted them to many dear people. Given her dedication as a military wife, Barbara was an extremely patriotic person and loved her country. Survivors include her three sons, Hubert “Butch” Z. and his wife Michelle Bradley, Jr., Chester and his wife Paula Bradley, and Douglas Jay and his wife Petra Bradley, all of Rivesville, her brothers, Charles and his wife Helen of Columbia, SC, William and his wife Sandra “Lou” Watkins of Rivesville, and Roger Watkins of Rivesville, and her sister Margaret Riley of Clarksburg. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brandy Bradley, Brandon Bradley, Benjamin Bradley, Kristin Heldreth, Dennis Bradley, Shannon Bradley, and Daniel Delozier, her eight great grandchildren, her one great-great grandson, and her canine companion, “Best Bud” Bernie. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Glen Watkins. Should you be able to celebrate her life, the family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street, Rivesville, WV on Thursday, July 16, 2020 from 2PM until 8PM. The VFW Post 7048 Auxiliary of Fairmont will hold a ritualistic service at 7PM in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held privately with Pastor David Stilgenbauer and Rev.
