Obituary of Rebecca "Jane" McKinney Romeo

The angels carried away Rebecca “Jane” McKinney Romeo to heaven on Sunday, June 28, 2020. She was a beautiful wife of 60 years, mother of two, and “Nanny” to four loving grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. Jane was a very popular and lovely girl at East Fairmont High School where she was honored as Miss East Fairmont in 1945. She worked at Owens Illinois for over 30 years until its closure. Jane was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Fairmont where she served with the ladies auxillary. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the cancer survivor group. She enjoyed being social and spending time with friends, and sending cards to family and friends to let them know she was thinking of them. She was a patient caregiver to her mother Goldie McKinney for twenty years, as well as to her loving husband Tony Romeo for the last ten years of his illness. In addition to her husband, Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest French McKinney and Goldie McKinney, her sister Rosemary Bailey and her husband Bill, two brothers, Forrest McKinney, Jr. and his wife Leon, and Thomas McKinney whose wife Lucille still resides in Texas. She said often how happy she was to have been a member of the Romeo family because they were all so accepting and loving to her. Now deceased are: Sam and Gail Romeo, Jack and Phyllis Romeo, John and Pela Romeo, Fanny and John Colorossi, Frank Romeo, Tom Romeo, Thelma Romeo, Vic Casciata, and Ralph Hilton. Surviving members are Kay and John Pagliaro, Mary Casciata, Lucille Hilton, Katy Romeo, Joe Romeo and Mary Katherine Romeo. The family has entrusted her services to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. Our dear mother deserves a beautiful tribute. However, we appreciate in the unknown time with the COVID-19 pandemic that attending a visitation may not be in your best interest. Please be with us in prayer. All of Mrs. Romeo’s services will be held privately. Memorial condolences may be made to www.fordfuneralhomes.com.
