Obituary of Helen "Lucille" Deabler Hawkins
Helen “Lucille” Deabler Hawkins, 85, of Buckhannon, formerly of Fairmont, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at the Holbrook on the Hill Nursing Home. Lucille was born in Uniontown, PA on July 20, 1930 a daughter of the late Ira Oakley Deabler and Helen Flannigan Deabler. She is survived by her loving husband Jack Ronald Hawkins.
Lucille was a homemaker and also worked as the Outreach Librarian for Marion County. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Fairmont and enjoyed her sunshine club, her church community, her book club and garden club. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hawkins is survived by her son, Bill Hawkins and his wife Patricia of China Grove, NC; her daughters, Ronna Prendergast of Dayton, OH and Brenda Kay Wachob and her husband Leonard of Buckhannon; five grandchildren, Kevin Prendergast, Aaron Prendergast, Jamie Hudson, Brandi Hawkins and Brian Wachob; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her sisters, Rosemary Lacock and Ione Martin.
The family requests memorial donations be made in Lucille’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association, WV Chapter, Morgantown Regional Office, 1299 Pineview Drive, Suite 3, Morgantown, WV 26505.
The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Saturday, June 25, 2016, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Sunday, June 26, 2016, from 12 noon until 1 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, June 26, 2016, at 1 p.m. A committal service will follow at Mt.
