Obituary of Charles Gene Parsons

Charles (Gene) Parsons, 90, of Pleasant Valley, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2020, in Harrisburg Pa., where he had been living for the past 8 years. He was born on August 4, 1929 in Fairmont, WV, to the late Charles L. and Bessie Pearl Parsons. Gene was a graduate of East Fairmont High School. He started working at the Owens Illinois Glass Co. in 1947 and worked there until the plants closure. He had previously worked with both Fairmont State University and West Virginia University. Gene is survived by his son, Melvin Gene Parsons of New Alexandria, Pa.; his daughter, Trondra Kay Toothman of Harrisburg, Pa: grandson Danny Parsons of Pittsburgh. Pa,; granddaughter Jocelyn Cale, and great granddaughter Olivia Mae Cale of Harrisburg, Pa. In addition to his parents, Gene was proceeded in death by his wife Doris A. Parsons, and his daughter-in-law Kathy Parsons. The family is requesting that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601. The family had entrusted the services to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family has chosen to have private services.
