Obituary of Wayne T. Musgrave

Wayne T. Musgrave, 78, of Winfield passed away unexpectedly in the loving arms of his wife, Katie Musgrave, in his home on Thursday, May 7, 2020. He was born October 4, 1941 to the late Denzil and Dorothea Wise Musgrave. Wayne lived most of his life in Fairmont, WV. He graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1959 where he was the captain of the football team and remained a proud part of the Hive serving the East Fairmont Foundation as a founding member until his death. Wayne served in the U.S. Army as a Private Second Class and the Army Reserves until 1969. Stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, he met and married his first wife, Vanita Gail Musgrave in Pampa, TX. After his proud service in the military, Wayne worked for Westinghouse until founding his own business, D and M Welding with partner Bud Daugherty. They built the business together until Wayne’s retirement in 1995. Wayne was a member of the Gateway United Methodist Church of Fairmont. He was raised in the Evangelical United Brethren Church which became Christ United Methodist Church, and later merged into Gateway United Methodist Church where he served with the Gateway United Methodist Men. He was proud to have been a member with the Boy Scouts of America where he earned his Eagle Scout Award with Troop #12. Wayne was a member of the Acacia Lodge #157 A.F. and A.M, the Osiris Shrine in Wheeling, WV, the Upper Mon Valley Shrine Club, and Elks Lodge #294 of Fairmont. Wayne had many hobbies including hunting, model trains, horseback riding, team roping, and Ford Model A’s, all of which he shared with his loved ones. Wayne had a great circle of friends with whom who he loved to spend time. Wayne is survived by his wife of 23 years, Marlene “Katie” Hall Musgrave; his son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Lisa Musgrave; daughter and son-in-law Lori and Steve Blosser; granddaughters Chanel and Seth Elsey, and Brittany and Jerome Axton; and grandsons Cody and Chase Blosser; and great grandson, Sutton Elsey. He is also survived by his step-daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and Bear Henson and their children Kelsie and Josh LeRose, Tyler VanderWijst, Chase Henson and Colton Henson; and a step-son and daughter-in-law Shaun and Catherine Daly and sons Jackson and Elijah Daly. Sisters-in-law, Mary Frances and her husband Jack Stemper, Ramona and her husband Lanny Allen, Karen and her husband Ross Measley, his brother-in-law, Dwight and his wife Patti Hall, as well as various nieces and nephews in Texas, West Virginia, and Virginia. In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceeded in death by his brothers James E. Musgrave and Jack A. Musgrave, Sr.; a nephew Jack A. Musgrave, Jr. ; a brother-in-law, David Hutchens, and his first wife Vanita Gail Musgrave on July 12, 1995. The family has entrusted care and arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV.
