William Konya

Obituary of William Edward Konya

William Edward Konya died at home on Thursday May 7 after a long battle with cardiac illness. Bill was a coal miner and operator for over 50 years. He dearly loved his family, West Virginia, and the West Virginia coal mining industry and history. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and two sisters, Adolph, Mary, Shirley Anne and Mary Lou Konya. He is survived by his wife Susan Painter Konya and three children. His son Shawn and daughter in law Stephanie Konya, two grandsons Clayton and Connor. His son Jeremy and daughter in law Heather James, two grandchildren Cora and Graham. His daughter Trista and son in law Thomas Ryno and youngest granddaughter Seylah. Bill was a member of Trinity Assembly of God and Loved the Lord with all of his heart. Bill was a man's man and enjoyed camping, fishing, and talking on the phone for endless hours to his buddies about COAL. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and his loving K9 companion Tinkerbell. "Every man's life ends the same way. It is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguish one man from another". The family has entrusted care and arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street, Rivesville, WV. Our dear husband, father and grandfather deserves a beautiful tribute. However, we appreciate in the unknown time with the COVID-19 pandemic that attending a visitation may not be in your best interest. Please be with us in prayer. Should you be able to celebrate his life, friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday, May 9, 2020, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 5 p.m. In accordance with Bill’s wishes, he will be cremated following the funeral service. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.fordfuneralhomes.com.
