Obituary of Albert Beto Flori, Jr.

Albert Beto Flori, Jr, 63, of McCurdysville, departed this world at home on Friday, April 24, 2020 surrounded by his family to go fishing in the sky. Beto was born in Fairmont on October 8, 1956 to the late Albert Beto Flori, Sr. and Carol Sue Toothman Flori Perkins. He is survived by his step-father, Harold “Bud” Perkins of McCurdysville. Beto was a Protestant by faith having attended Baxter United Methodist Church. He was a sweet, loving person who loved everybody and was known and loved by many. Beto was one of the first special needs children to attend public school at Watson Elementary in 1964 and later White school. Beto worked with the Op-Shop in Fairmont with over 20 years of service. He was an avid sports fan especially loving the Rivesville Rams, WVU, Steelers, and the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders. His passions in life were fishing with friends and family, music, dancing, and his family. Beto loved children and animals and they loved his as well. Beto was an active athlete in the Special Olympics, having won many medals in his life. He beat all the odds stacked against him and was one of the strongest people who walked the earth. Beto is survived by his brother, David Flori of Baxter, his sisters Pamela Flori of Rivesville, Joni and her husband Bub Benson of McCurdysville, and Toni and her husband Brad Shelton of Rivesville, as well as several nieces and nephews which include: Kimberly Martin, Elizabeth Flori and her companion Shawn, Erica and her husband Drew Moore, Brooklyn and her husband Will Lucas, and Justin Paul Wells and his companion Allie. He is also survived by his great nieces and nephews, Wyatt Davy, Mason and Maleigha Moore, Clayton, Laney, and Coleson Lucas, and Haiden and Julianna Thompson, his aunts, Patty Perkins and Linda Perkins, his uncle, Ira Ogden, as well as numerous cousins. Beto was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Maria Flori, his maternal grandparents, Fred and Maxine Morris Toothman, his uncles, Joe Flori, Fred Toothman, II, and Mike Toothman, as well as his aunts, Lena Delamae and Ida and her husband Jim Hershman, special cousin Fred “Fox” Toothman,II, his niece, Tressa Sue Wells Thompson, Grandma “Beck” Beckman, his aunt Florence Ogden, uncles, Jim Perkins, Doodle Perkins, and Tom and aunt Peg Perkins, and several cousins. The family would like to thank his special caregivers, Carol Shahan, Tiffany Gore and Charla Butler, and Amedysis Hospice Care for all of their love and concern shown during his illness. The family has entrusted care and arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street, Rivesville, WV. Our dear brother and uncle deserves a beautiful tribute. However, we appreciate in the unknown time with the COVID-19 pandemic that attending a visitation may not be in your best interest. Please be with us in prayer. Should you be able to celebrate his life, friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday, April 27, 2020 from 4PM until 8PM and on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 from 10AM until 12 noon. In honor of Beto’s love of WVU, the family asks that you wear WVU clothing on the day of the funeral. The funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at 12 noon with Reverend Stanley Merrifield officiating.
