Obituary of James Edward Willis

James Edward Willis, 90, of Fairmont, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born November 6, 1929 in Fairmont, WV a son of the late Lewis Samuel and Pauline Shaffer Willis. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret Virginia West Willis. Mr. Willis was a 1948 gradate of East Fairmont High School. He was a member of the United Methodist H & H Chapel Church. He retired in 1988 from C&P Telephone Company where he worked as a cable splicer for over 34 years, and had previously worked as a driver with the Parkers Dry Works. James was a member of the C&P Telephone Pioneers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Brenda S. and her husband Duane Wilson of Fairmont, and Beverly Ann and her husband Mark Ellis of Fairmont, grandchildren, Brittnay “B.B.” Ann and her husband Michael Boros of Fairmont, Andrea N. and her husband Shannon Helton of Fairmont, Mark F. Ellis II and his girlfriend Chloe Keener of Fairmont. He is also survived by his great granddaughter, Blakley Ann Boros, his sister, Dora “Sally” Leona and her husband Gene Current of South Carolina, his sister-in-law, Patsy Bryant Willis of Nashville, TN, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, William “Bill” Willis, Charles “Jackie” Camden Willis, and infant brother, Thomas Lee Willis. The family has entrusted care and arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV. Our dear father and grandfather deserves a beautiful tribute. However, we appreciate in the unknown time with the COVID-19 pandemic that attending a visitation may not be in your best interest. Please be with us in prayer. Should you be able to celebrate his life, friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday, April 17, 2020 from 6PM until 8PM and on Saturday, April 18, 2020 from 10AM until 11AM. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at 11AM with Reverend Randy Vincent officiating. The interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Fairmont.
