Jan Elaine Wilson, 61, of Fairmont, passed away Monday (April 13, 2020) after a long battle with cancer. Jan was born July 25, 1958, to the late Elmer Junior and Beatrice Mae Edwards. She was raised in Kingmont, attending Kingmont Elementary, before graduating from East Fairmont High School in 1976. She went on to graduate with a Business Education degree from Fairmont State College in 1980. She met and married the love of her life, Millard Glen “Bud” Wilson, in 1979. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Matthew Glen Wilson and Lisa Dawn Wilson, both of Fairmont. Jan worked her way through college at the Fairmont Murphy’s Mart. Following graduation, Jan taught briefly at Webster College, before leaving to raise her young family. Later, Jan became an Avon cosmetics representative, where she was a member of the President’s Club for many years. She then began her career at H&R Block, where she not only worked as a tax advisor but also enjoyed spending time with co-workers and clients for more than 25 years. Over the course of her life, Jan enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, sewing, genealogy, swimming, hiking, camping, and traveling with her family for as long as her health would allow. Jan also shared in her husband’s hobby of classic music, television shows, and movies, and enjoyed her many pets. Jan worshipped at different churches over her life, including the Fairmont Wesleyan Methodist Church, and more recently The Baptist Temple.
