Obituary of Margaret Metz

Mrs. Margaret Metz, 87 years of age of Fairmont, WV passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at United Hospital Center of Bridgeport, WV. She was born July 12, 1932 in Davis, WV the daughter of the late David Harold and Margaret Harmon Graham. She was preceded in death by her husband Ansel Metz Sr. in 1988. She is survived by her daughter Brenda Ahrens of Fairmont, WV; two step-sons Ansel Metz Jr. and spouse Rhonda of Wilmington, NC and Roger Metz of Fairmont, WV; nine grandchildren Jeff Bush of Fairmont, WV, Kayla Ahrens of Fairmont, WV, Roger Adam Metz Jr. and wife Courtney of Fairmont, WV, Andrea Fancher and husband Trent of Farmington, WV, Deanna Tucker and husband Zachary of Shinnston, WV, Stephanie Firth and Ansel Metz III both of North Carolina, Laura Aherns of Fredericksburg, VA and Jeremy Aherns of Manassas, VA and great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother Harold Cromwell Graham. Margaret was a 1950 graduate of East Fairmont High School. She attended Fairmont State College and majored in music. She was blessed with a wonderful singing voice and performed for many community events, weddings and the Homecoming for John Glenn in Columbus, OH. She was a faithful Christian that daily read her Bible and devotions. For seventeen years, she lived in Albuquerque, NM and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She participated in Sunday School and the worship services. In 2017, she moved back to Fairmont and became a member of Central United Methodist Church. Margaret loved her family and looked forward to the annual Harmon Family Reunion. The family has entrusted care and arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV. Our dear mother and grandmother deserves a beautiful tribute. However, we appreciate in the unknown time with the COVID-19 pandemic that attending a visitation may not be in your best interest. Please be with us in prayer. Should you be able to celebrate her life, friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. The funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Brad Bennett presiding. The interment will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery.
