Obituary of Mitchell Elwood Morley

Mitchell Elwood Morley, 86, of Farmington, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2020, at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. He was born in Fairmont on December 26, 1933, a son of the late Fay Cooper and Velma Morley. Mitchell is survived by his son, Robert Morley of Farmington; his daughter, Christine Butler and her husband Kurt of Glen Burnie, MD; two grandchildren, Mitchell Northam and Sara Northam; two great grandchildren, Cam Batson and Aaliyah Batson; a brother, John Rittenhouse of Wooster, OH; a sister, Joan Wiebe and her husband Raymond of Orville, OH; brothers-in-law, Clint Deusenberry and Wayne Eberle Sr.; as well as many nieces and nephews including Tina Jo Hendershot and her daughter Kelsie Blosser. In addition to his parents; Mitchell was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Jo Wright Morley and three sisters, Janice Deusenberry, Ruth Eberle, and Christine Barkman. Mitchell was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and a veteran and boxer in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Fairmont and retired as a mold maker from Owens-Illinois Corporation of Fairmont. He enjoyed feeding birds and deer. He truly loved the outdoors. The family has entrusted arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554. A private funeral service will be held for the family with Elton Slusser officiating. A private committal service will be held at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont where full military rites will be conducted at graveside.
