Obituary of Mavis Eleanor Martin

Mavis Eleanor Martin, 87, of Big Mill Fall Community, died Sunday, March 8, 2020 in the Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 23, 1932 in Fairmont, WV a daughter of the late Carlton Stutler & Grace Arnett Stutler. She was preceded in death by her husband Gifford Jennings Martin. She is survived by 2 sons and 2 daughter in laws Gordon & Kay Martin of Rock Lake Community and Brett & Brenda Martin of Mannington, WV, 2 daughters Debora VanPelt of Big Mill Fall Community and Laray Osborne of Boothsville Community, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister Delphia Grubb, a granddaughter Rita Ann VanPelt and great grandson Tyler Cogar. Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and member of the Highland Avenue United Methodist Church. She enjoyed farming, quilting and being with her family & friends. The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554 on Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 3-8 p.m. and Friday, March 13, 2020 from 10-11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 11:00 a.m. The committal service will follow in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
