Obituary of Betty Lee Keener
Betty Lee Squires Keener, 92, of Fairmont, West Virginia passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Fairmont Regional Medical Center. She was born August 28, 1927 in Fairmont, the daughter of the late Charles Squires and Opal Findley Squires.
Mrs. Keener was a retired teacher and county nutritionist for the Marion County Board of Education. She was a lifelong member of The Baptist Temple of Fairmont, WV where she served on the Board of Deacons. She was also a member of the sanctuary choir, a Sunday school teacher, and a member of the American Baptist Women. She was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and Fairmont State College. Mrs. Keener loved being with her children, grandsons, great grandson, and many grand and great “grand dogs” and “grand cats”.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles Allan and Lou Ann Keener of Fairmont; a daughter and son-in-law Karen Kay and Keith Browning of Morgantown; two grandsons and their wives Scott Allan and Amber Keener and Robert Camden and Carrie Keener and a great grandson William Allan Keener of Fairmont; two nieces Sherri and George Remias of Sarasota, FL and Janet Slick and her fiancé Ken Smaltz of Niles, OH; several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law Janet Smith of Wheeling, WV, and her nephew’s wife Linda Stoops of Fairmont. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law Frances and Bob Rider and nephew Don Stoops.

The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554 on Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 4 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, March 6, 2020 from 10 to 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
