Obituary of James C. "Bub" Lucas
James C. “Bub” Lucas, 69, of Fairmont, passed away Saturday, February 29, 2020. He was born October 28, 1950 in Fairmont a son of the late Gilbert James and Etta W. Reese Lucas.
Bub was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and a veteran with the United States Navy. He began working at the age of 16 with Lasobeck Harley Davidson in Fairmont and continued with them for over 40 years into their merger as Triple S Harley Davidson.
Bub enjoyed working on motorcycles outside of work and often made repairs for his close friends’ bikes. He loved his annual trip to Daytona, Florida for Bike Week and the comradery with his fellow bikers. Bub liked to attend any performance by the Davidson Brothers Band and often traveled many miles to see them at different venues. He had met Hank Williams, Jr. who was his favorite performer which was very meaningful to him. Bub was a friend to all, he would give you the shirt off his back, and would go above and beyond to help a friend in need.
Survivors include his sisters, Brenda and her husband Brent Biro, and Jane and her husband Rick Halpenny, an aunt, Ruth Varney Morgan, as well as his nieces and nephews, Krystal Biro, Andy Biro, Nicky Biro, Jimmy Halpenny, and Johathon Halpenny, all of Fairmont.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roger Lee Lucas, in infancy, and Paul Robert “Bob” Lucas.
