Obituary of Elva Jane Vance Cottrell

Elva Jane Vance Cottrell, 87, of Fairmont, West Virginia passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020 in the Taylor Health Care Center, Grafton, WV. She was born January 17, 1933 in Logan, WV a daughter of the late Richard Vance & Sarah Messer Vance. She is survived by her husband of 68 years Clyde Jefferson Cottrell of Fairmont, WV. She is survived by two daughters and two son in laws Janice Lee Villers & her husband Ron Villers of Fairmont, WV and Lori Lynn Wisenbaler & her husband Roger Wisenbaler of Montana Mines Community, six grandchildren Ashley Wisenbaler, Hunter Wisenbaler, Tanner Wisenbaler, Jay Wisenbaler, Jessica Wisenbaler and Nik Wisenbaler, four great children and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by 16 siblings. Mrs. Cottrell was a former employee in the Lamp Plant for the Westinghouse Corporation of Fairmont, WV and as a Maintenance Agreements Clerk for the Sears & Roebuck Company. She was a faithful member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Fairmont where Mrs. Cottrell taught Sunday school, volunteered in the church nursery and with Work and Witness Short Term Missions. She loved being with family and friends, especially helping to raise her precious grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene World Missions, 1604 Morgantown Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554. The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554 on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 4-8 p.m. The body will lie in state in the First Church of the Nazarene, 1604 Morgantown Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554 on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 10-11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the church Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Larry Barkley and Reverend Scott King officiating.
