Obituary of William Ray Smith
William Ray Smith, 84, of Fairmont, West Virginia died Sunday, February 16, 2020 at his residence. He was born April 13, 1935 in Fairmont, WV a son of the late Franklin Ray Smith & Jesse Louise Jenkins Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife Dolores Ann Cook Smith.
He is survived by three daughters and two son in laws Patty Hermosilla of Fairmont, WV, Susanne & Dale Moran of Fayetteville, TN and Robin & Doug Hannah of Fairmont, WV, a son and daughter in law David & Vicki Smith of Fairmont, WV, a twin brother and sister in law Thomas Fay & Joyce Smith of Atlanta, GA, ten grandchildren Nick Hermosilla and his wife Sheray Hermosilla, Ali Gross and her husband Chris Gross, Dominica West and her husband Klint West, Jessica Wilson and her husband Patrick Wilson, Matthew Moran and his wife Memorie Moran, John David Smith, Frankie Smith, Gage Hannah, Molly Hannah and Audrey Hannah, seven great grandchildren, a brother in law and his wife Tom & Jean Cook of Fairmont, WV, several nieces & nephews, his companion Sue Harr Smith of Fairmont, WV and her children Johnny Merrifield and his wife Christie Merrifield, Jo Merrifield, Jeff Merrifield and his wife Maria Merrifield, Jay Merrifield and his wife Starla Merrifield and all of their children.
He was preceded in death by a brother and sister in law James Clark Smith & his wife Ruth Smith and his son in law Dennis Hermosilla.
Bill was a retired machine attendant for the Westinghouse Corporation, Fairmont, WV. He was a member of the Gateway United Methodist Church and a graduate of East Fairmont High School. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and vacationing at the ocean with family and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554 on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 5-8 p.m. A Prayer Service will take place in the funeral home Thursday evening at 7:45 pm with Reverend Matthew Holbert officiating.
