Obituary of Patti Ann Perdue

Mrs. Patti Ann Perdue, 72 years of age of Fairmont, WV passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at West Virginia University Hospitals, Ruby Memorial, Morgantown, WV. She was born May 8, 1947 in Fairmont, WV the daughter of the late Allen and Bonnie Gower VanGilder. She was preceded in death by her husband Roger David Perdue in 2018. She is survived by two daughters Shelle Miller and her husband Dan of Fairmont, WV and Amanda Hamilton and husband Kevin of Fairmont, WV; three grandchildren Hannah Miller, Kaelin Hamilton and Brody Hamilton; one sister Beverly Gall and her husband Kevin of Fairmont, WV; a brother-in-law Lloyd “Bugs” Linn of Fairmont, WV and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a sister Sharon Linn. Patti was a 1965 graduate of East Fairmont High School. Following graduation from beauty school, she worked many years as a hairdresser in the Fairmont area. More recently, she was employed by the Marion County Board of Education as a teacher’s aide. She was a member of Central Christian Church Disciples of Christ. She was a devoted wife to her husband Roger and throughout his illness of twenty-three years she was his caretaker. Her family was her life and spending time with her grandchildren was important. Her friends and neighbors knew how much she enjoyed working outside. She was an avid gardener and she kept a beautiful yard. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Patti’s memory to the Central Christian Church’s Relay for Life Team, 1640 Big Tree Drive, Fairmont, WV 26554. Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV on Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Saturday at 1:00 PM with Reverend Dr. Robin Norsworthy presiding. The interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery and Mausoleum.
