Obituary of Phyllis Jean Ford
Phyllis Jean Ford, 76, of the Levels Community, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2019 at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown. She was born May 27, 1943 in Fairmont a daughter of Betty D. Reed Jenkins Nuzum and the late Samuel R. Nuzum. She was preceded in death by her husband James P. Ford on June 9, 2011.
Phyllis was a 1961 graduate of East Fairmont High School. She was a Christian by faith. Phyllis was a member of VFW Post #7048 in Fairmont. She retired from Alcan Aluminum in Fairmont with over 25 years of service where she served in the slitting department. Phyllis loved being retired. She enjoyed caring and cleaning her home, mowing grass, tending to her garden, and was an avid reader. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and caring for her mother who resided with her part-time.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughers, Crystal Riffle of Fairmont, and Cammie and her husband Sam Sutton of Fayetteville, NC, her grandchildren Justin Shaffer and his fiancé Casey Weeks of Mooresville NC , Garrett Riffle, and Evianna Riffle both of Fairmont, and her great grandson Colton Shaffer. She is also survived by her brother Ronnie Nuzum of Farmington, her sister Linda and her husband Roger Saurborn of Levels, and her nieces: Rhonda Hartzell, Rita Price, Jill and her husband Jobe Spicer, and Melanie Brinkman.
In addition to her father and her husband, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Milford “Buck” Jenkins, her brother David L. Nuzum, and her nephew Davey Nuzum.
Memorial contributions may be made to the UHC Wings of Hope,327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330 to benefit the cancer patients care within northcentral West Virginia.
Family and friends may visit the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV on Monday, December 9, 2019 from 3PM until 7PM and on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 from 10AM until 11AM. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 11AM with Reverend Jim Zinn officiating. Interment will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Fairmont, WV.
