Obituary of Bob Ott

Bob Ott of Bellview Community, Fairmont went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 14 at the Fairmont Regional Medical Center. Bob was born January 8, 1945 the son of the late Charles Glenn Ott and Susie Elizabeth Harker Ott. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years Marjorie Ann Duncan Ott. Bob is survived by his two sons Robert “Robbie” and Christy Ott of Wilmington, NC and Ryan and Krysta Ott of Falling Waters, WV. He is also survived by three grandchildren Lauren Ott, Brady Ott and Chad Wall IV and by one brother Jeri Ott of Paden City, WV. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews including a special niece Susie Kniceley of Rivesville, WV. Along with his parents and beloved wife, Bob was preceded in death by three brothers Charlie, Jack and Don Ott and by three sisters Shirley Brumage, Maxine Yost and Norma Jean Ott. Bob was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Jason AR-8. He was a former member of the Pitcher United Methodist Church and retired in 2000 as a Meter Supervisor for the City of Fairmont Water Department. Bob was one of the original founders of the 5th and 6th Grade Marion County Basketball League and a former president of the Fairmont Little League. He was a member of Fairmont Lodge #9 A.F. & A.M. Masons and a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason, Wheeling Consistory. Memorial contributions may be made the Marion County Rescue Squad 400 Virginia Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of the Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation Center located on Watson Hill. The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel 201 Columbia St. Fairmont, WV 26554 on Thursday, from 2 PM until 8 PM, and on Friday, from 10 AM until 11 AM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Stanley Merrifield officiating. Interment will follow at the Beverley Hill Memorial Gardens in Westover, WV. There will be full military honors provided by the Marion County Veterans Council and the Fairmont Lodge #9 Masons A.F. & A.M. will hold rituals at the graveside.
