Obituary of Dolores "Doie" Jean Rodeheaver

Dolores “Doie” Jean Shay Rodeheaver, 91, of Pleasant Valley, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019. She was born on March 12, 1928, a daughter of the late John and Mildred Cale Shay.

Doie is survived by three children, Dana Rodeheaver Shay and his wife Kim of Fairmont, Dean Rodeheaver of Green Bay, WI; and Drema Ford and her husband Jay of Fairmont; six grandchildren, Spencer Ford and his wife Jessica, Jessica Ford, Bridget Riley and her husband Michael, Auri Anna Shay, Eliada Rodeheaver, and Kaia Rodeheaver; a great-grandchild, Lillianna Susan Ford; two sisters, Bonnie Lou Ball of Tom’s River, NJ and Dottie Brand of Bridgeport; three step-grandchildren, Merav, Tamar and her wife Sandy Shihadeh, and Gidon Datan; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Doie was preceded in death by her husband, Don Parnell Rodeheaver and a daughter, Donita Rodeheaver.

Doie was a member of Valley Chapel United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and Garden Club. She was a driver for Meals on Wheels and volunteered at the food pantry and the Wesley Foundation. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was a wonderful cook and gardener.

The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. The casket will lie in state at Valley Chapel United Methodist Church, 1511 Pleasant Valley Road, Fairmont, WV 26554, on Thursday, November 7, 2019, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the church on Thursday, November 7, 2019, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Andrew Tennant officiating.
