Obituary of Violet Marie Freed
Violet Marie Freed, 87, of Bridgeport, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at her residence. She was born in Bridgeport on October 9, 1931, a daughter of the late Dolan Ashcraft and Carrie Mae (Fowler) Ashcraft.
Violet is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Glotfelty and her husband Allen of Palmyra, PA; her son, Steve Freed and his wife Tandra of Bridgeport; four grandchildren, Matthew D. Freed and his wife Jessica of Hurricane, Mark D. Freed and his wife Amanda of Bridgeport, Sarah F. Freed Hill and her husband Daniel of Bridgeport, and Alyssa L. Glotfelty of Palmyra, PA; and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her loving husband, Olas C. Freed and her siblings, Lucille Rankin, Dorothy Lynch, and William (Bill) Ashcraft.
Violet retired from Rish Equipment where she worked as an office administrator. She was a member of Simpson Creek Baptist Church since the 1980s. She was a member of SCBC Lora D. Kirby Circle. Violet loved to play cards and Dominos with friends, travel to places like Branson, MO, and spend time on their boat at Tygart Lake. She enjoyed baking and preparing meals on Holidays.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Violet’s memory to UHC Hospice, 327 Medical Park Dr., Bridgeport, WV 26330.
The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV 26330, on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at 1 p.m. with Reverend Dr. C.
