Obituary of Norma Dale Duez

     Norma Dale Lazzelle Duez passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her family.  For the past several years, she showed great courage against her illness of colon cancer.  She was born September 18, 1943 in Morgantown, WV the oldest daughter of the late Dale Leon Lazzelle Sr. and the late Edith Mae “Toye” Cordwell.

     She is survived by her husband of fifty-four years Richard M. “Dick” Duez.  They were married February 27, 1965.  Also surviving are her children Sheri D. Hyatt and her husband Tim of Clarksburg, MD and their children Christopher and Alexander Hyatt; a son Matthew D. Duez and his wife Michelle Brubaker Duez and their children Michael, Mark and Mitchell Duez of Bridgeport, WV; a sister Linda Lazzelle Boisjolie and her husband Roland; a half-sister Traci Lazzelle Miller and her husband Stephen and their daughters and a close cousin Nancy Povroznik.  She leaves behind Sandra Miller, Cindy Davis, Cheryl Maholic, Amy Kelley and many other friends.  She was also preceded in death by one brother Dale L. “Ricky” Lazzelle Jr.

     Norma graduated from Bridgeport High School and attended Dental Assisting School.  She was employed by the City of Bridgeport and faithfully worked thirty-seven years in the Utility Billing Department.  She retired in 2015.

     The family request donations be made in Norma’s memory to Bridgeport Track and Field Boosters, Attention Coach Jon Griffith, Bridgeport High School, 515 Johnson Avenue, Bridgeport, WV 26330 or St. Judes Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

     Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV on Sunday from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.  The funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Monday, July 22, 2019 at 10:00 AM with Mr. Chris Kinney presiding.  The interment will follow in the Bridgeport Cemetery, Bridgeport, WV.
