Robert Martin

Obituary of Robert Hale Martin

Robert Hale Martin left his earthly body on July 18, 2019 at the age of 85.  He was born in Fairmont on March 4, 1934 to the late Gilbert A. and Lenore Hale Martin.  He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lucille Dabato Martin.

While on this earth, Bob was a very busy man.  Along with his wife Lucille, he created and operated many successful businesses.  Many will remember the smile on his face at Valley Worlds of Fun as he watched more than one generation of young employees and customers enjoy the many activities he provided.  He worshipped the Lord with the Christian family at the Oakwood Road Church of Christ in Fairmont.  He spent his life striving to follow Christ’s example and was most humbled to serve as both an Elder and a Deacon for much of his time here.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his sons: Bruce (Stacia) Martin, Brian (Susan) Martin, and Brent Martin, his grandchildren: Rob (Brianna) Martin, Logan (Michaela)Martin, Kara (Scott) Chisler, Tyler (Samantha) Martin, and Jordan (Gina) Martin, as well as his great grandchildren: Elia Martin, Krue Martin, Griffin Martin, Stone Martin, Barrett Martin, and Shelby Chisler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Dr. Gilbert Martin, Jr.

The family would especially like to thank Joanne Spooner for her help and support with making him comfortable.  In addition, they request that those wishing to honor his memory do so by making a donation to the Pleasant Acres Christian Home, 41 Pleasant Acres Drive, Fairmont, WV 26554, the Ohio Valley University, #1 Campus View Drive, Vienna, WV  26105, or another worthy cause of their choice.
