Obituary of David Acsentia Eli

David Acsentia Eli, husband for 49 years of Carol F. Lough Eli, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg. Dave was born in Warren, Ohio on February 14, 1928. At the age of one, Mr. Eli lost his father, Gravila Eli, in 1929. His mother, Brasoveana Indres Eli Lucian passed away in 1975 and his step father, Vucu Lucian passed away in 1968. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Peter Eli, a sister, Auralia Russ Goehring, and a niece, Nancy Russ Byrd.

Mr. Eli attended Warren G. Harding High School, graduating in 1946. After graduating, he joined the Army Air Force and served in the military until February 1949. He then entered St. Louise University, St. Louis, Missouri, and studied Meteorology. Later he found he had a love for building and became a stone and brick mason which lasted 50 years. He was a member of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers of West Virginia # 15. His masterful brick and stonework can be seen throughout Ohio and West Virginia. Dave enjoyed the music of the 1940s and 1950s, dancing, football, crossword puzzles and reading. He was a bowling champion, earning better than 100 trophies in Warren, Ohio and Illinois. He loved golfing, his favorite pastime, family gatherings and helping out those in need. Dave loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was of the Greek Orthodox Religion.

He was the father of six children, four from his first marriage to Connie Dumitru Eli. Son, David Eli and wife Debbie, son Dennis Keith Eli and wife Mary, their children, Amanda, Jenelle and Kristen of Ohio. Daughter, Denice and husband James Mack, their children, James Eli and Sam Mack of Ohio. Daughter, Dina and husband Brian Mack, their daughter, Zoe Mack of Florida. Two sons of his second wife, Carol F. Lough Eli. His son, David Scott Eli and his children, Steven, Mary and Jace.  Son, Mark W. Eli and wife Judy and their children, Stacey and husband Eddie Randolph, their children, Mackenzie and Brooklyn Randolph. Daughter, Markie and husband Michael Wolfe and their children, Elijah and Logan Wolfe.

The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 East Main St., Bridgeport, WV 26330, on Monday, July 15, 2019, from 10 A.M. until 1 P.M. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, July 15, 2019, at 1 P.M. with Pastor Jim Sanders officiating. A committal service will follow at Stonewall Park Cemetery in Stonewood.
