Obituary of Roy Emory Mullenax
Roy Emory Mullenax age 80, of Bellview passed away on June 26, 2019. Born December 1, 1938 in Crown, WV, he is the son of Troy Joseph Mullenax and Margaret Mullenax Sabol who both preceded him in death.
Roy spent his career working in the coalmines for Eastern Coal Company, but not before he would join the US Navy at only 16 years old, proudly serving from 1956 to 1960 aboard the USS Edson where he was an original crew member and is a plank owner of the ship. In his younger years, he was an avid outdoorsman who shared his love of hunting and fishing with a whole host of nephews and great-nephews.
Roy, known by family and friends alike for his ability to tell a great story, had an infectious smile and laugh, deviously twinkling eyes, and a heart of gold. But what he was most known for was being a doting husband and partner to Eleanor Hess Mullenax with almost 60 years together, and a loving father to daughter, Tammy Eloise Mullenax of Fredericksburg, VA, as well as to his son, Charles Roy Mullenax of Fairmont.
He was one of 13 children and is survived by siblings Ruth Collier-Hoye, George Mullenax (Mary Lou), Kelly Mullenax (Judy), Patti Gorbey (Kenny), Eloise Sigley, and scores of nieces and nephews.
The family has planned Military Internment at West Virginia National Cemetery and would like to invite friends and family to join us in Celebrating the life and memory of Roy Emory Mullenax.
