Obituary of Fred Earl Ford
Mr. Fred Earl Ford, 62 years of age of Fairmont, WV passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at WVU Hospitals, Ruby Memorial, Morgantown, WV. He was born July 16, 1956 in Fairmont, WV, the son of the late Marvin Earl Ford and Helen Ash Floyd.
He is survived by two sons Jason Ford and his wife Arianna of Fairmont, WV and Joseph Ford of Fairmont, WV; three sisters Connie Straight and her husband Lindy of Fairmont, WV, Ruth Franks and her husband David of Bridgeport, WV and Rhonda Osborn of Fairmont, WV; a brother-in-law David Morris of Baxter, WV; two grandchildren Brian Ford and Aiden Ford; several nieces and nephews and longtime friend Fred Dalton. He was also preceded in death by a sister Nancy Morris.
Fred attended Rivesville High School. He worked in maintenance with Huntington Bank. He was a member of Highland Avenue United Methodist Church and enjoyed the many church functions.
Working with children was his passion. For twenty-five years, he served as a scout leader for Boy Scout Troop #14 at Highland Avenue United Methodist Church. While under his leadership, the troop was recognized by the Boy Scout Council for growth in membership. He also supported children by being a baseball umpire for Fairmont Little League. Many games he umpired with his good friend Bob Ott. He was also a referee for the Greater Fairmont of Churches Youth Basketball League.
The Genesis Center of Fairmont was Fred’s home for the last two and half years. He received outstanding care and made many good friends among the staff and patients. The family would like to extend their thanks for the loving care that Fred received while living there.

Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel in Rivesville, WV on Thursday from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM and on Friday at 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. The funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Friday, April 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Micah Blanks presiding. The interment will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Rivesville, WV. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.fordfuneralhome.com.
