Obituary of Donald Ray Minor

Donald Ray Minor, 60, of Pleasant Valley, West Virginia passed away on February 20, 2019 at the Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fairmont, WV after an extended illness with diabetes.  He was born May 4, 1958 in Fairmont, WV a son of the late Charles Donald and AnnaBelle Lake Minor.

Donald was a retired custodian for the Marion County Board of Education.  He was a former member of the Valley Chapel United Methodist Church and recently attended Mt. Sharon Free Methodist Church.  He loved NASCAR and truly enjoyed visiting the Charlotte Motor Speedway.  He loved country music and Elvis was his favorite musical artist.  Donnie enjoyed going to the movies as well as collecting them.

Donald is survived by his sister Cathy Woodward Fridley and her husband Arthur L. Fridley of Fairmont, WV and his brother John Dave Minor and his wife Diana Minor of Raleigh, NC.  He is survived by three nephews Matthew C. Woodward, Kevin R. Minor and Mark A. Minor, uncles & aunts Kenneth Robert & Helen Minor of Barrackville, WV, Robert & Linda Lake of Wooster, Ohio and Shirley & Carroll Wright of Chambersburg, PA and several cousins.

Along with his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Barry C. Woodward.

The family of Donald Minor would like to thank Fairmont Healthcare and Rehabilitation, Fresenius Dialysis Clinic of Kingmont, Ruby Memorial Hospital and West Virginia Caring for all their loving care and kindness towards him.

The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel at 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, West Virginia, 26554 on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 10-11 a.m.   A memorial service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Harley Mayfield officiating.  A private committal service will be held for the family in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later time.  Online condolences may be made to the family at www.FORDFUNERALHOMES.com.
