Obituary of Charles Harold Roberts
Charles Harold Roberts, 88 years of age of Bridgeport, WV passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, WV. He was born February 25, 1930 in Weston, WV the son of the late Joseph and Imogene Butcher Roberts. In 1950, he married Patricia Bartlett and they celebrated fifty-five years of marriage. She preceded him in death in 2005.
He is survived by a son Bart Roberts and his wife Pam of Wexford, PA; a daughter Patsy Coll of Maple Lake Community; four grandchildren Doug Roberts and his wife Michele of Charlestown, WV, Laura Roberts Foucha and her husband Nigel of Pittsburgh, PA, Rachel Coll of Bridgeport, WV and Kathleen Coll of Bridgeport, WV and a great grandson Roland Joseph Fourcha.
Charlie retired from C&P Telephone Company as a Central Office Tech. For over sixty years, he was a faithful member of Bridgeport United Methodist Church. At the church, he shared fellowship with the United Methodist Men, participated in Bible studies and along with his wife assisted children with crafts at many Vacation Bible Schools.
He volunteered at Shepherd’s Corner in Bridgeport and attended monthly gatherings of the C&P Telephone Pioneers. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in their father’s memory to the Bridgeport United Methodist Church Permanent Fund, 251 Worthington Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330.
Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV on Wednesday from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM and at Bridgeport United Methodist Church, 251 Worthington Drive, Bridgeport, WV on Thursday from 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM. The funeral service will be celebrated in the church on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Dr. Ken A. Ramsey presiding. The interment will follow in the Bridgeport Cemetery.
