Obituary of Dominic Richard “Rick” Potesta

Dominic Richard “Rick” Potesta, 61, of Colfax Community passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018, At United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. He was born in Fairmont on July 27, 1957, a son of A. Robert Potesta and Carolyn Welty Potesta of Shinnston. Rick is survived by his loving wife Tracy Jarvis Potesta.

In addition to his wife and parents, Rick is survived by three daughters, Amanda Stover and her husband Justin of Fairmont, Emily Potesta of Nutter Fort, and Alexis Potesta of Fairmont; two grandchildren, Nicolas and Ethan Stover of Fairmont; a brother, Tim Potesta and his wife Barbara of Fairmont; and two sisters, Tracy Meredith and her husband Bob of Fairmont and Nancy VanSlyke and her husband Jack of Shinnston. Rick is also survived by several nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. Serving as pall bearers will be his special friends, Jon Potoczny, Charley Crandall, Everett Nixon, Alexis Potesta, Dave Walker, Scott Jarvis and Scott Goodwin.

Rick was a 1975 graduate of East Fairmont High School and a member of St. Peter’s the Fisherman Catholic Church. He worked with his father at the former Community Hardware in Fairmont for 18 years and retired from Morgan Auto Parts in 2007. He was very active in football and wrestling and was a past president of the Fairmont Elks Lodge 294. Rick was an avid boater, water skier and snow skier. He also enjoyed fishing, watching Hallmark movies and was an avid sports fan, following the Pittsburgh Steelers and WVU football. He also enjoyed collecting and sharing wrist watches. He loved life and he truly enjoyed and loved his family. Rick loved his girls and grandsons fiercely.

The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Sunday, December 30, 2018, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Monday, December 31, 2018, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, from 11 a.m. until 12 noon. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, January 1, 2018, at 12 noon with Deacon David Lester and Pastor Rob Bennett officiating.
