Obituary of John Lewis Nutter

     Mr. John Lewis Nutter, 74 years of age of Bridgeport, WV passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Carolina Medical Center of Pineville, NC.  He was born September 13, 1944 to the late Goff and Louise Zimmerman Nutter.

     He is survived by his wife Barbara Meek Nutter.  They had celebrated fifty-five years of marriage.  He is also survived by a daughter Elizabeth Anne Mitchell and her husband Christopher of Charlotte, NC and a granddaughter Emily Elizabeth Mitchell.

     John graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Salem College.  He retired from West Virginia University as the Assistant Director of Maintenance.  He attended Bridgeport United Methodist Church.  He was a fifty year member of Queen Esther Chapter 11 of the Order of the Eastern Star, a fifty year member of Friendship Lodge #56 A.F.&A.M. of West Union and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, Valley of Clarksburg.

     He and his wife enjoyed boating and kept a houseboat on Tygart Lake.  Wonderful family memories with friends were made at the lake.

     Upon his passing, his daughter posted to her friends how much her father enjoyed golfing, but he never kept score.  He just loved observing the beautiful surroundings and watching the perfect swing.  He had the same outlook on life.  He never kept score on how he compared to others, he just appreciated life.     

     Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV on Saturday, from 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM.  The funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 1:30 PM with Reverend Dr. Dan Kimble presiding.  The interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Quiet Dell, WV.  Friendship Lodge #56 A.F.&A.M will provide Masonic rites at graveside.
